Chilton County Sheriff's Office Announces Arrests in Arson Case

Chilton County, Alabama - On February 4, 2026, three individuals were arrested in connection with an arson that occurred on the night of January 31, 2026, near the 5000 block of County Road 55 in Clanton, Alabama.
The investigation revealed that multiple subjects participated in an attempt to burn an abandoned residence by igniting a fire on the front porch of the structure.
As a result of the investigation, the following individuals were arrested and charged:

David Scurlock, 25, of Clanton, Alabama

Alexis Robinson, 22, of Clanton, Alabama

Charles Brasher, 40, of Clanton, Alabama
All three suspects have been charged with Arson in the Second Degree and Criminal Conspiracy in connection with this incident.
The Chilton County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate, and additional information will be released as it becomes available. Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to contact the Chilton County Sheriff's Office Special Operations Division.
"This incident could have resulted in serious injury or loss of life to first responders," said Sheriff John Shearon. "Thanks to the swift work of our investigators, those responsible have been identified and taken into custody.
