Important Alert Regarding Chilton County Sheriff's Office/ Spam Pistol Permits

12/27/2023

We recently became aware of a scam that is targeting our community, specifically involving the Chilton County Sheriff's Office and pistol permits.

It has come to our attention that some individuals are being contacted and informed that they can easily apply for a pistol permit online, followed by a request for payment. We want to clarify that the Chilton County Sheriff's Office will never ask for money or any form of payment over the phone. Please be cautious and vigilant if you receive such calls.

Alabama is known as a constitutional carry state, which means residents have the right to carry firearms without a permit within the state's boundaries. This is great news for gun owners within Alabama.

However, if you plan on traveling outside of Alabama with your firearm, it is crucial to note that other states may have different regulations and requirements. While your constitutional carry rights may not apply outside of Alabama, having a valid pistol permit can often be beneficial and sometimes necessary for interstate travel.

To ensure compliance with the laws of the states you are planning to visit, we highly encourage you to check with each state's specific requirements regarding pistol permits or concealed carry permits. This will help avoid any legal complications during your travels and ensure that you are adhering to all relevant regulations.

If you have any doubts or questions regarding pistol permits or any related matters, we strongly encourage you to reach out directly to the Chilton County Sheriff's Office at 205-755-4698. They will be able to provide accurate information and guidance.

Your safety and security are of utmost importance to us, and we want to ensure that everyone in our community remains protected from fraudulent activities. Please share this information with your family, friends, and neighbors so they can also be aware.

If you have any further concerns or need assistance with any other issues, please don't hesitate to contact us.
