Beware of Scam Calls Impersonating Bail Bonds Company

11/30/2023

We regret to inform you that we have recently received multiple complaints regarding scam calls targeting our community. These fraudsters are posing as representatives from a bail bonds company,  claiming that a family member has been booked in Chilton County Jail and has contacted them to bond the person out of jail.

To deceive their victims, these scammers are even going to the extent of sending jail-booking photos of the family member, which they have obtained from the internet. They then demand a significant sum of money as bail payment for the incarcerated individual.

It is crucial to be aware that these calls are fraudulent and should not be trusted under any circumstances. The Chilton County Jail or any legitimate bail bonds company will never make such requests over the phone. They will always follow proper legal procedures and provide appropriate documentation if required.

We strongly advise you to exercise caution and take necessary precautions to safeguard yourself and your loved ones from falling victim to this scam:

  1. Do not disclose any personal information or financial details over the phone.
  2. Verify the authenticity of any call by contacting Chilton County Jail directly using their official contact information or website/app.
  3. Educate your family members, friends, and neighbors about this scam to prevent further incidents.
  4. Report all instances of scam calls to your local law enforcement agency and provide them with as much information as possible.

If you have already been targeted by these scammers or have any additional information related to this matter, please reach out to us immediately at 205-755-4698 or Clanton Police Department. We are committed to taking swift action against these criminals and ensuring the safety of our community.

Stay vigilant, stay informed, and together we can put an end to these fraudulent activities!
